Long COVID & Chronic Fatigue (ME/CFS) Treatment
in Boca Raton, FL

When You Know Something Is Wrong — But No One Can Tell You Why

Your basic blood work came back “normal.” You receive a diagnosis based primarily on your symptoms without anyone adequately explaining why you are experiencing them.

For many patients, that is not an answer. It is another dead end.  But not at Rofé Medical…

Individual results may vary. References to “peptide” therapy in patient testimonials or elsewhere on this website may include FDA-approved medications prescribed for an off-label use when determined medically appropriate by a licensed clinician, as well as medications customized for an individual patient and compounded pursuant to a patient-specific prescription by a state-licensed 503A compounding pharmacy. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not evaluate compounded medications for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are marketed. Individual treatment decisions are made by the treating clinician based on the patient's medical history and clinical needs.

Why This Work Is Personal

Our Owner & CEO Has Lived This Experience

Our Owner & CEO was a longtime sufferer of ME/CFS.  Was.  🙂  He experienced firsthand what it is like to live with a devastating condition that destroys your life while remaining difficult to explain through conventional testing.

The functional medicine approach that became an important part of his own path toward regaining his health helped shape the philosophy behind Rofé Medical.

That experience is not presented as proof that the same approach will work for another patient. Every person is different.  But when you have personally experienced the difference that a deeper, individualized approach can make—and then watched other patients experience meaningful improvements in their own lives—it changes the way you think about chronic illness.  It is one of the reasons Rofé Medical exists.

We understand that the person sitting across from us is not simply a diagnosis.

ME/CFS: More Than a Diagnosis

A Complex, Systemic Condition

Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) is a serious, chronic, complex condition that can affect multiple systems of the body.

It is not simply being tired. Patients may experience profound fatigue, post-exertional malaise, unrefreshing sleep, cognitive difficulties, autonomic symptoms, pain, sensory sensitivities, and other symptoms that can substantially affect daily life.

There is no single laboratory test that establishes a diagnosis of ME/CFS, and its underlying causes remain incompletely understood.

The Diagnosis Is Not Necessarily the Explanation

A diagnosis gives a name to what a patient is experiencing. It does not necessarily explain why that particular patient became ill, what factors may be contributing to the illness, or which additional health issues may be present.

Two people can have the same diagnosis and very different clinical histories, laboratory findings, nutritional status, metabolic health, sleep patterns, genetics, lifestyle factors, and comorbidities.

We believe those differences matter.

Long COVID Is Real — and Complex

Patients Should Not Have to Prove That They Are Sick

Long COVID is recognized by federal health authorities as a serious chronic condition that can involve multiple organ systems and persist for months or years.  Yet many patients experience a frustrating disconnect between how sick they feel and what conventional testing reveals.

A patient may experience significant fatigue, cognitive difficulties, sleep problems, exercise intolerance, pain, palpitations, gastrointestinal symptoms, or other persistent concerns while routine testing appears reassuring.  A normal test result is useful information. It is not necessarily an explanation for everything a patient is experiencing.

Long COVID remains an area of active medical research, and much remains to be understood about why some people develop persistent symptoms and why those symptoms differ so dramatically between individuals.

We believe that uncertainty should lead to better investigation—not dismissal of the patient.

Why We Look for Root Causes

The Body Is a System

The body does not operate as a collection of independent departments. The immune system interacts with the nervous system. Metabolic function affects energy regulation. Sleep affects virtually every aspect of health. Nutrition, gastrointestinal health, hormones, stress, infections, genetics, medications, and other factors can interact in complex ways.

When a patient has persistent, multisystem symptoms, we believe it is reasonable to ask whether multiple factors may be contributing simultaneously. For one person, metabolic dysfunction may be important. For another, nutritional status, sleep disruption, hormonal factors, previous infections, gastrointestinal issues, medication effects, or other health factors may warrant investigation.

Root-Cause Oriented Does Not Mean Pretending We Have Every Answer

We do not claim that every chronic illness has one identifiable root cause. Sometimes there is a dominant contributing factor. Sometimes there are several. Sometimes the underlying picture remains uncertain despite extensive evaluation.

Our philosophy is simple: The investigation should not stop merely because the first-line tests are normal or because a diagnostic label has been assigned.

Our Individualized, Data-Driven Approach

We Do Not Start With a Universal Protocol

We start with the patient. Your evaluation may include a detailed review of your medical history, symptoms, previous testing, medications, nutrition, lifestyle, sleep, and other factors relevant to your health.

When clinically appropriate, additional laboratory testing or other diagnostic evaluation may be considered. The purpose is not to order tests simply for the sake of ordering tests.

The goal is better information about the individual patient.

Your Findings Guide the Plan

We deliberately do not publish a universal list of “advanced therapies” or suggest that one intervention will work for everyone. The appropriate approach depends on what your individual evaluation reveals.

Treatment recommendations may include nutritional and lifestyle strategies, prescription medications when clinically appropriate, management of identified medical conditions, and other interventions determined by your treating clinician.

Data informs the plan. The patient—not the protocol—comes first.

What Treatment and Ongoing Care May Look Like

Addressing More Than the Symptom

Symptoms matter. If you are exhausted, unable to think clearly, sleeping poorly, experiencing pain, or struggling to function, those problems deserve attention. But our philosophy does not stop at symptom management. When appropriate, we seek to identify and address modifiable factors that may be contributing to the patient’s overall health picture. That may involve addressing a specific medical condition, nutritional or metabolic factors, sleep, lifestyle, medication effects, or other contributing issues.

Sometimes several factors need to be addressed simultaneously.

Ongoing Reassessment

Chronic illness does not always follow a straight line. Symptoms can change, new information can emerge, and treatment may need to be modified. Your clinician can reassess your response to care, review new information, and adjust your plan when appropriate.

We will never promise that we can identify or correct every underlying cause of illness.

We will, however, continue to look at the whole picture.

Why Rofé Medical?

We Look Deeper

If you have been sick for months or years and told your tests are “normal,” we understand the frustration. A normal test does not necessarily explain why you are sick.

Our personalized, data-driven, root-cause-oriented approach looks at the body as an interconnected system to identify factors that may be contributing to your health challenges.

Important Information About Long COVID Treatment

Individual results vary. There is currently no FDA-approved medication specifically indicated to treat Long COVID or ME/CFS. Rofé Medical provides individualized medical evaluation and management of persistent symptoms following COVID-19 infection. Treatment recommendations are based on each patient’s medical history, symptoms, examination, and clinical needs.

When medically appropriate, a licensed clinician may recommend FDA-approved medications for an indication that differs from the medication’s FDA-approved labeling (off-label use). Certain medications or therapies may also be compounded for an individual patient pursuant to a patient-specific prescription by a state-licensed 503A compounding pharmacy. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not evaluate compounded medications for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are marketed.

No treatment is guaranteed to produce a particular result. Patients should discuss the potential benefits, risks, limitations, and alternatives of any recommended treatment with their treating clinician.
